-Children’s healthy eating top priority for Canteen at the MAC-

Ever wondered what Rudolph and Santa eat to keep their energy levels up on the busiest night of their year?

Or how you and your children can integrate healthier eating into their everyday lives?

Canteen at the MAC will have all the answers to this and more with their first-of-its kind Festive Eats and Treats Workshop and the launch of their new nutritionist-created children’s menu and healthy snack box.

Expert Nutritionist Jane McClenaghan from Vital Nutrition and author of The Vital Nutrition Cookbook, will host the fun, exciting and nutritious Christmas workshop as part of the ‘Taste of Christmas’ Food Festival taking place in Saint Anne’s Square. Jane has also been working in partnership with Canteen to develop a children’s menu due for launch in December, which will see the entire children’s’ menu revolutionised to incorporate healthy additions and recipes, as well as developing a children’s Snack Pack offering complete with healthy food and snacks which will be sold for shows at the MAC.

Sharon Wright, Canteen at the MAC explained: “We are thrilled to have Jane on-board as our expert nutritionist consultant and to host our upcoming Festive Eats and Treats workshop.

‘With healthy eating and lifestyle a Government priority,  it has never been more important to provide an appealing, tasty and healthy children’s offering . Our new menu and children’s snack pack offering will aim to be just that.

‘At the workshop on November 30th, not only will children find out what foods we (like Santa and Rudolph) can eat to keep our energy levels up, but they’ll also discover the secret ingredients which  keep them fit and healthy and they can even make their very own tasty and healthy edible snowmen and Santa hats.’

An experienced Nutritional Therapist, Jane’s passion for food began at a very young age and her enthusiasm and understanding of how important it is for children to eat a well-balanced diet will not only ensure kids come away having fun, but also with a greater appreciation of why certain foods should be included in their everyday diet.

She said: “It is so important to get children interested and excited about good food from an early age, to help them set good habits for a lifetime of health and wellbeing.

“Children love to cook, and with a little persuasion can be encouraged to make healthy choices and enjoy them.”

Jane has recently launched her first cookbook entitled The Vital Nutrition Cookbook which will also be on sale at the event.

The Festive Eats and Treats workshop will take place in Canteen at the MAC on Saturday 30th November as part of the ‘Taste of Christmas’ Food Festival taking place in St Anne’s Square. Tickets are priced at £10. Places are limited so early booking is recommended.  To book a place or for further information on Canteen at the MAC, including menus and photo gallery please visit
