Craigmore sign contract to clean up UK City of Culture

One of Northern Ireland’s leading cleaning products and equipment suppliers Craigmore has secured a major contract with Derry City Council supplying equipment for the Derry~Londonderry, UK City of Culture.

The new contract is worth £45,000 to Portadown-based Craigmore, which offers industrial cleaning and engineering products to the tourism, transport and manufacturing sectors throughout Ireland and the UK.

Derry City Council has been a Craigmore client for over five years and this latest contract agreed following a public procurement process, will see them use Karcher City Vacs and Karcher power washing equipment to remove litter, wash the streets and remove any graffiti throughout the City of Culture year.

Craigmore, which was founded in 1990, is the largest Karcher dealer in Northern Ireland, and one of only a handful of Premier Servicing Dealers on the island of Ireland.

Throughout its 23 year history, the company has been selling power washers, sweepers, scrubber-driers, welding equipment, safety wear, workshop tools and cleaning products from Karcher, SIP, 3M, Arrow, Nielsen and other leading brands to the public and businesses.

Geoff Baird, Managing Director of Craigmore said, “Our new contract with Derry City Council and the City of Culture is something we are extremely proud of.

“The Karcher range of cleaning equipment has long been used by Derry City Council and has proven itself to be cutting-edge, reliable and economical in use.

“The equipment will perform a key role in ensuring the streets of the city are kept as clean and hygienic as possible during a time when it is on a world stage.”

The public sector sector currently makes up around ten percent of Craigmore’s business, and new developments and changes in the Karcher range of machinery, alongside local council’s desire to use the best products available whilst optimising their budget accordingly means that this range is being sought more and more.

“We are not only seeing a huge growth in the public sector seeking the Karcher products, but the renewed interest in our leasing and support service is also seeing a huge growth.

“Government and council bodies have a remit to cut costs across the board, and these bodies are now seeing leasing as an attractive option, cutting down on maintenance costs and wastage.”

Craigmore employs 13 people and is located in CarnIndustrial Estate, Portadown.
